Sir Alex: We deserved win

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Following are match report extract from Manutd.com

Sir Alex Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson believes the “fortunate” moments when Chelsea had a man sent off and United were awarded a penalty merely made up for other incidents missed by referee Mike Dean.

Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel was dismissed after 32 minutes for lifting both feet off the ground in a challenge on Patrice Evra, while Louis Saha was pulled back in the box in the 89th minute before completing United’s 2-0 win from the penalty spot.

“I’ve seen the sending off incident and it was maybe a bit harsh, but there was intent there,” said Sir Alex on Sky Sports. (more…)

Carlos dismisses Old Trafford exit reports

Friday, September 21st, 2007

I'm not quittingManchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has denied he is ready to walk out on the club and insists he wants ‘to be a part of’ their future. The Portuguese is currently in his second spell as Sir Alex Ferguson’s number two at Old Trafford, but a report today suggested he may be ready to consider his options at the end of this year.

Ferguson himself recently highlighted Queiroz as his likely successor, although there is no suggestion the Scot will be ready to relinquish his role any time soon. But rather than suffering from itchy feet as he awaits his promotion to the Red Devils hotseat, Queiroz insists he is content to remain in his current job. ‘It is just a misunderstanding, for sure,’ he told Sky Sports News in Portugal.

‘I don’t understand why that has come up, but the most important thing is that I’m happy, I’m very happy with the job and the position at Manchester United. ‘The club is happy with me, so there’s no reason to waste time with that issue.’ He added: ‘There is nothing to comment about that because there is no sense to it.’ Queiroz, 54, is thought to have played a key role in United’s plundering of the Portuguese league this summer for some of the SuperLiga’s top young talent in the form of Nani and Anderson.

And with that promising duo being added to more established young superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney, the former Real Madrid coach is adamant there are few reasons to want to leave in the near future. ‘Especially at this moment, we have made a lot of decisions with a medium and long-term view,’ he added. ‘We expect a lot of things from our youngest players, talented players that we have got in the last season. ‘So there are a lot of hopes and expectations about the future, and I want to be part of that future - it is really a big challenge for all of us.’

Ronaldo scored on Sporting return

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Ronaldo gesture after scoring against his former club.Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal for Manchester United’s Champions League away win against his former club Sporting Lisbon. After scoring, Ronaldo headed a fine winner and opted a soft celebrating with double-fisted salute before an almost apologetic bow to the home supporters, which offered the winger a standing ovation when he was replaced by Carlos Tevez four minute from time.

His efforts ensured Red Devils back home with three points in the bag to put aside United travelling woes in Champions League matches. Another old boy, Luis Nani would have put United cruising had he taken an instant decision either to shoot or lay-off to Ronaldo after fine work by Rooney.

Rooney first match after fractured a foot in the opening day draw with Reading couldn’t spark Red Devils into life, in fact the first 45 minute did not exactly measure (more…)

Sporting Lisbon vs Man Utd Review

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Just as we celebrate good news with Wayne Rooney returning to the squad, my earlier post was about Carlos Queiroz hinting he may quit in December.

Cristiano Ronaldo will makes his return to his former club, United chief fears Ronaldo is being targeted by referees because of his extreme talent and success and Ferguson concern were only heightened when he was informed excitable German referee Herbert Fandel was in charge.

Fandel has played all the wrong notes for Ferguson in the past, sending off Roy Keane (more…)

Carlos unsure about future!!!

Carlos Queiroz May Quit UnitedSir Alex Ferguson’s No 2 Carlos Queiroz has dropped a bombshell by revealing he is ready to quit Manchester United. Queiroz 54, is frustrated with his Old Trafford assistant role and is looking at other options. He is in his second spell after an unsuccessful term at Spain’s Real Madrid.

Queiroz quoted: “I need to reflect on what I want to do in my last part of career. In December I’m going to stop and think about myself. My contract is perpetual and caters for various options. But I only have one life and one career, I am going to think about it and go for the route that makes me most happy.”

Will Carlos Queiroz quit Manchester United? Time will tell..

Fortunate Red Devils Won 1-0 at Goodison Park

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Clock was counting down fast the 90th minute, United not convincing through out the game but luck was with our side. Nemanja Vidic rescue Red Devils out of jail with a near-post header from’s Nani corner seven minute from time at Goodison Park to complete a third successive single-goal victories for Premier League champions Manchester United.

This was Nani’s second assist in United single-goal victories, while he also scored himself in the last match against Tottenham at Old Trafford with a thunder strike. This win couple with a draw game for Liverpool and Chelsea was a cause to celebrate, enabling United to close the gap and now sit third in the table below 1st Arsenal and 2nd Liverpool while Chelsea in the fourth place.
