Sir Alex Ferguson believes his new Wayne Rooney-Carlos Tevez strike partnership is starting to click despite five out of United’s last seven games have ended in 1-0 wins, and Ferguson insists there is no problem with Manchester United’s attack.

Manchester United won 7-1 against Roma in last season quarter-final second leg at Old Trafford, almost scoring all the shot they attempt. While a repeat of last meeting remarkable scoreline is highly unlikely neither is the prospect of watching a high scoring match.

United have scored 11 fewer goals than at the same stage last season despite having the most potent attacking talents in paper, this may all down to Tevez missing pre-season, Saha injured knee and Rooney broken metatarsal foot in August. (more…)

Tomasz KuszczakSir Alex Ferguson insists he has no qualms about handing Tamasz Kuszczak his Champions League debut against AS Roma this evening, after Edwin van der Sar was ruled out through injury.

Kuszczak, 25-year-old stopper from Poland made his first league appearance of the season as a half-time substitute at Birmingham on Saturday.

He is in confident mood after saving Gary McSheffrey’s deflected shot soon after Ronaldo had given the Red Devils lead. Tomasz now faces his biggest test of his Red’s career so far as he prepares to make his first European debut.

“I’m very confident that Tomasz can step up to the Champions League”, said Sir Alex. “The boy just needed the opportunity, especially with Edwin ability and experience it is difficult for any young keeper to get games”.

Tomasz Kuszczak joined United on 10 August 2006 from West Brom, made his debut at Old Trafford on 17 September 2006 against Arsenal. Born in Krosno Odrzanskie, Poland.

Defensive Blow

Nemanja Vidic

The Red Devils have some defensive injury concerns ahead of AS Roma’s visit to Old Trafford on Tuesday for Champions Leagues second group match.

Edwin van der Sar had already been ruled out with a toe injury, he will miss a couple of weeks. Sir Alex Ferguson is waiting anxiously to learn of the fitness of Vidic and Brown, who both picked up knocks during 1-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday.

Both of them neither trained on Monday morning, so it remain to see whether they will take part in the AS Roma game.

With Gary Neville is still out, John O’Shea probably will play as right back with Gerard Pique replacing Vidic if both Vidic and Brown didn’t pass the late fitness test.
