Blue Sky in Manchester!!
August 19th, 2007 at 6:13 pm , filed under Match Report.It’s just really hard to start a paragraph about the scoreline of the Manchester derby which was won by City single goal strike by Geovanni’s first-half effort, maintaining Sven-Goran Eriksson’s 100% start as Blues boss and leaving United languishing in the bottom five, seven points behind their city rivals.
United definitely has given them self an uphill fight to reclaim the possible 7 points they missed out from the first 3 games. United were in control through out the games, dominating possession and enjoying vast majority of chances but they just cant find the net.
Ferguson conceded his side must start winning fast with time no in the favor of the Devils now. United could be in an embarrassingly low position by the time they kick off the next match against Tottenham who will visit Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
One the positive side for the Ferguson, £18million Owen Hargreaves was the outstanding performance on his debut. His energetic contribution to United’s midfield largely kept City at bay, however, his knees are a bit sore and he will need a few days to recover, said Ferguson, who said there will be no panic at his team’s poor start.
“At this moment in time we have to rely on our experience and make sure we do not get carried away with a knee-jerk reaction.”
Final score 1-0 to Manchester City;
Scorer: Deiberson Geovanni (31)
Current Man Utd form: D-D-L
