Legend Ole Gunnar Solksjaeris preparing to salute the fans who adore him - and he is still pinching himself at his amazing Manchester United career. Solskjaer is relatively an unknown when he joined United from Molde in 1996 but everyone knows his name now.

Actually I’m a fan of Solksjaer myself, I’m having a United jersey of the treble year with his number on it and really admired his predator instinct.

Principally of course, he is famous for the injury-time goal at the Nou Camp in 1999 which sent United into Champions League ecstasy.

However, United fans will be paying tribute to far more than one flick of his right boot.

In 365 appearances, the 35-year-old scored 126 goals for the Old Trafford outfit before a continued knee problem eventually forced his retirement 12 months ago.

He won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a League Cup, as well as that never-to-be-forgotten night against Bayern Munich.

Apparently Carloz Tevez has broken ranks by claiming Cristiano Ronaldo should be allowed to join Real Madrid if he wishes. Ronaldo has been the transfer story since Manchester United’s European triumph in Moscow last Champions League final against Chelsea.

Tevez has risked incurring the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson by claiming The-Slave-Ronaldo (a 5star slave who earns close to £120,000 per week) should be allowed to leave if he wants to.

“The team has great players, including Ronaldo, of course, “Tevez told AS.”It’s clear that he is a very important player for us, but this is a personal decision, which is up to only him.

“I understand Cristiano. Every footballer wants to play at Real Madrid. On the other hand, I also think that everyone wants to play for Manchester United, but if what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected.

“I have not talked to him, but when these things happen, neither side feels good.”

p/s: The media may have misquoted Tevez’s comment who are more than willing to put a spin just to sell more copies.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has admitted he does not expect to spend more than another two seasons at the club. 33-year-old Scholes has spent his entire career at Old Trafford and been at the heart of most of United’s success under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Scholes said: “How long will I go on? I’d think two years at the most.

“I have one year left on my contract and hopefully I’ll get another one but I suppose it all depends on how you’re feeling and how you’re playing.”At the moment I just think two years would be about right.”

Scholes has not ruled out moving to a club at a lower level to prolong his career or later becoming a coach, but he admits he will not miss the spotlight that comes with playing at the top level.

He added: “I can’t say that I can’t wait to finish but I am looking forward to finishing with everything that goes with it.

“I suppose people are just very invasive and are always wanting to know what you’re going to do.

“The only thing I will definitely miss is the football, not the general life of a footballer.”

Sir Alex Ferguson was at his most candid yet on Monday afternoon when asked about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Reds boss firmly set out the facts that Ronaldo is contracted to United for four more years, adding that a move to Real Madrid would be “the worst thing he could do”.The 23-year-old winger, who is currently recovering after an ankle operation that will keep him for around three months, has been the subject of much speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid this summer.

United have stated throughout that Ronaldo will not be leaving, while Sir Alex described a meeting with the player in Portugal as “amicable” and seemingly positive. At a press conference in Durban on the club’s visit to South Africa, the United manager took time out to further reveal his views.

“The future is that Cristiano signed a five year contract with the team last year and he has four years left. That’s definite, I’ve seen his signature,” said Sir Alex.

“Young lads can be turned by the talk of money and the moves that are happening all the time in football. But after the Champions League final he was the happiest boy in the world. I think he knows where the best club is to be, and that is Manchester United.

“I honestly believe that going to Real Madrid would be the worst thing he could do. I think he’s 23 years old and at the right club, a fantastic club.”

Team-mate Michael Carrick was far from pleading with Ronaldo but strongly expressed his views about the draw of Old Trafford. “I can only speak for myself,” he said. “But for me this is the best place in the world to be. Joining the club was the best decision I have ever made.”

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Manchester United to continue his recovery from an ankle operation in three weeks’ time, according to the Portuguese national team physiotherapist.Physio Antonio Gaspar has claimed Ronaldo will not return to action before October after he underwent surgery on his right ankle last Monday.

Gaspar announced the Manchester United winger, the subject of a transfer wrangle between the Premier League club and Spanish suitors Real Madrid, will remain under his care for three weeks before United’s doctors carry out another examination.

‘We are going to use everything that is possible to us and that will help him recover as quickly as possible,’ Gaspar told Spanish sports newspaper AS.

‘But Cristiano Ronaldo will not be in an optimum state for the competition until 12 weeks are up.

‘He is working very well and he is optimistic.

‘These first four weeks he will do the rehabilitation work in my clinic. After the first month, the Manchester United doctors will carry out another exam.’

Gaspar added: ‘I want it to be made very clear that I am only involved with Ronaldo’s recuperation and that I am in permanent contact with the medical department at Manchester United, with the Dutchman Niek van Dijk [the specialist who performed the operation] and with [Portugal team doctor] Henrique Jones.

‘Any other information or the medical aspect about his injury are only and exclusively the concerns of Manchester United.’
