Sir Alex Ferguson completed his summer signing with the unexpected arrival of Bebe from Vitoria Guimaraes in a £7 million deal, despite having only joined the Portuguese club on a free transfer from a third-tier side five weeks previously.

Little was known about the 20-year-old but it quickly turns lighting strike fascinating story, having previously spent time on the streets. Ferguson acted quickly to sign Bebe without seeing Bebe in action on a football pitch, instead, he relied on glowing recommendations from his Portuguese coaching staff.

Javier Hernandez, aka Chicharito (“Little Green Pea”), was signed before the World Cup started. Chicharito has quickly climbed up the ranks of Mexican football. As top scorer in the Primera Division de Mexico with 17 goals, he earned a place in the Mexico squad for the 2010 World Cup. Hernandez deal was signed back in April 2010 in the region of £8 million.

Chris Smalling was snapped from Fulham in a shock move in January 2010 that at the same time he was loaned back to Fulham for the remaining of the season. The defender attracted the attention of the league’s elite with his performances and after Arsenal and United both made bids, he opted to join Red Devils. He was signed as a future successor to Rio Ferdinand, Smalling shares many of his qualities – including calmness on the ball, accurate distribution and solid aerial ability. Chris Smalling cost a £7 million transfer fees United paid to Fulham.

Manchester United new signing from South America’s Chivas Guadalajara has been granted a work permit to play in England. He will now join Sir Alex Ferguson’s side on July 1.

Javier Hernandez a Mexican was signed in April 21, with reports putting the likely transfer fee for the striker somewhere in the region of £8 million.

But though he scored in a 2-1 defeat to Netherlands on Wednesday and appeared in the second half against England at Wembley, Hernandez has not played in 75% of Mexico’s games over the past two years.

That forced United to make the case that he is an ‘exceptional talent’ and one that could not be recruited from inside the European Union for a similar transfer fee.

An FA panel, responsible for administering the process on behalf of the Home Office, has agreed with the club and given Hernandez the green light to start his career at Old Trafford.

Right after Champions League exit on away goal to Bayern Munich, Manchester Untied have announced a deal to sign striker Javier Hernandez from Mexican side Chivas for an undisclosed fee.

Hernandez, 21, has agreed personal terms and passed a medical but is still awaiting a work permit. Should a permit be granted, he will join United in July after the Mexico international returns from the World Cup.

As part of the deal, United will play a friendly at the Chivas Stadium ahead of the 2010-11 season.

Sir Alex Ferguson told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to reach agreement with Chivas to bring such an exciting young striker, who has been in such prolific form for both his club and his country.

“He will be a great addition to our squad and we look forward to welcoming our first Mexican player in the summer. We are equally excited to play our first game in Mexico, opening the magnificent new Chivas Stadium in July.”

Chicharito, or “Little Pea”, as he is known, has scored four goals in his first four games for Mexico.

Manchester United and Molde F.K. are pleased to announce that they have agreed terms for the transfer of Mame Biram Diouf.

The 21 year-old striker is to attend a medical in Manchester next week with a view to joining the club in January. Until that time he will remain with Molde F.K. on loan.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur earlier today, Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We’ve been looking at him for two years.

“We weren’t intending on signing anyone else after Gabriel Obertan last week – we feel we have a full squad – but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids, so we had a decision to make.

“We decided to act now and he’ll be the last person we sign this summer.”

To date, Diouf has scored 38 times in 73 appearances for Norwegian side Molde, the same club from which United signed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a virtual unknown in 1996.

Diouf’s impressive tally of 17 goals from 21 games so far this season includes a hat-trick in the first nine minutes of last Sunday’s league match against Brann. He added a fourth strike, in the 27th minute, as Molde marched on to a resounding 5-2 victory.

A fellow countryman of several UK-based players including Blackburn’s El Hadji Diouf and Portsmouth’s Papa Bouba Diop, Mame Biram Diouf has represented his native Senegal at youth, Under-21 and Olympic (Under-23) level.

Sunderland have signed England Under-21 striker Fraizer Campbell from Manchester United for an initial fee of £3.5m, potentially rising to £6m.

The 21-year-old was also being tracked by Hull City, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell during the 2007/08 season, but signed a four-year deal with the Black Cats.

Campbell spent most of last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, where he helped the team reach the Carling Cup final before being ruled ineligible to face United – who went on to win on penalties.

The Huddersfield-born player came through the ranks at Old Trafford before going on loan to Royal Antwerp at the start of the 2006/07 season.

Success in Belgium was recognised by Sir Alex Ferguson, who handed Campbell his debut as a substitute in the derby against Manchester City at Eastlands in August 2007.

Campbell then went on loan to Hull and helped them win promotion to the Premier League. It had appeared he would make a permanent move to the KC Stadium when the clubs agreed a fee earlier this summer but Sunderland beat them to it.

After missing out on the striker, Hull manager Phil Brown said: “I’m disappointed but I was always nervous about the deal because of the way it was dragging along.”

Campbell also caught the eye at this summer’s European U21 Championship in Sweden as England reached the final, where they were beaten by Germany.

Gabriel Obertan, a Paris-born France Under-21 international have become Manchester United third signing of the summer from Bordeaux. The 20-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Premier League champions as Manchester United continue to rebuild for the new season.

Obertan, who can fill several attacking roles, will have to wait for his first-team bow, however, as an unspecified minor injury will keep him out of United’s forthcoming tour of the Far East.

Obertan underwent a medical on Tuesday and reports in France have claimed he will cost the Red Devils around £3million.

“Gabriel is a player we have tracked for a few years now, but because of his educational programme our efforts to get him here have always been delayed,” United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told manutd.com.

“We are delighted to get him now as he is an exciting prospect. We like to get young players and develop them, and we will see that in Gabriel over the next two years.”

Bordeaux sent Obertan on loan to Lorient for the second half of last season where he made 15 appearances, scoring one goal.

“I am very happy to join Manchester United,” the player added.

“This is a big opportunity for me to play at such a great club. I am very excited to be here and I look forward to proving what I can do.”

Obertan scored against England Under-21s in March and took the Most Valuable Player award at last month’s Toulon International youth tournament.

He becomes Ferguson’s third signing of the close season after Antonio Valencia and Michael Owen, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez have led the departures in an already eventful summer at Old Trafford.

You have probably read it, Michael Owen has been confirmed as Manchester United second signing for new season on a two-year deal at Old Trafford with no transfer fee as the forward was a free agent.

The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle player will earned his wage purely on incentive based basic, this would be the best deal for both parties as United will not be committed to paying him while he is on treatment table, as for Owen this would be his last chance to show the world what he still have and force his way back to Fabio Capello World Cup plan next summer.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson happily confirmed the deal saying, “Michael is a world class forward with a proven goalscoring record at the highest level and that has never been in question. Coming to Manchester United with the expectations that we have is something that Michael will relish”

Owen himself was similarly happy, and said: “I had just begun to talk to other Clubs when out of the blue Sir Alex phoned me on Wednesday afternoon, invited me to have breakfast with him next morning during which he told me that he wanted to sign me. I agreed without a moment’s thought.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to seize it with both hands.

“I am now looking forward to being a Manchester United player and I am fortunate that I already know so many of the players here. I missed pre season last year and am pleased that I will be starting at Carrington from day one.

“I want to thank Sir Alex for the faith he has shown in me and I give him my assurance that I will repay him with my goals and performances”

The striker spent Friday morning at United’s training complex, Carrington, before heading to a south Manchester hospital for more tests.

Owen left the hospital just after five o’clock and was understood to be returning to United’s Carrington training ground to complete the formalities of the move.

The England international had been without a club following the expiry of his contract with Newcastle United and it appeared only Stoke City and Hull City were interested in offering him a contract.

But Sir Alex Ferguson has snapped up a player who is fourth in the all-time goalscorers list for his country.

Sir Alex tried to sign the player – a boyhood Everton fan – as a teenager but instead he opted, on the advice of his father, to pen a contract with Liverpool where he scored 118 goals in 216 games.

United have been searching for a new forward since the departure of Carlos Tevez at the end of his loan deal. They had been linked with the likes of Karim Benzema and David Villa, but now it seems Owen will be arriving to pep up their striking options.

The 29-year-old suffered an injury-ravaged time at St James’ Park but still managed to score 10 goals as the Magpies dropped out of the Premier League.

In Manchester and among fans, the reaction has been mixed; Red Devils’ messageboards have been lighting up with negative comments.

“Not happy. From what I’ve seen he is nowhere near as good as he was,” was one; while another discontented fan lamented: “Owen hasnt been the same for years!”

Manchester United have wrapped up the signing of Antonio Valencia for a fee reported to be £16million from Wigan on a four year contract, United does not released the official figure for the signing.

The 23-year-old Ecuador international, who scored three goals for Latics last season, will help fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo following the star winger’s £80million move to Real Madrid.

Valencia has described the move as a “dream”.

“Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me,” he told the club’s official website.

“I have enjoyed my time at Wigan, but I am thrilled to have the chance to challenge for the biggest honours in club football here.

“Playing in front of 76,000 fans alongside players like Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs will be an amazing experience. I can’t wait to get started.”

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he had tracked Valencia’s progress since his arrival at Wigan two seasons ago.

“Antonio is a player we have admired for some time now, having spent the last two years in the Premier League with Wigan,” he said.

“I am sure his pace and ability will make a significant contribution to the team.”

Meanwhile, on the other transfer news, it’s reported United have tabled a whopping £38million for Lyon’s Karim Benzema. Reports suggest Benzema is all set to become Red Devils’ second signing which would smash British transfer record.

Luis Antonio Valencia flew in last night to complete his dream move to Manchester United for a fee of around £16million – and end Sir Alex Ferguson’s wait for a first signing of the summer.

Ecuadorian ace Valencia cut short a break back in his homeland to make the trip and will have a medical at Old Trafford today while his contract details are sorted out.

Valencia has been holding out for a move to United for five months since Fergie first showed his hand and tried to buy him from Latics in the last window.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were given the brush-off by Valencia and his camp because he wants to make the trip along the M62 and join the champions as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement.

It is a dream move for Valencia who can expect to quadruple his wages and sign a deal worth around £75,000-a-week.

Wigan have also got close to the money they wanted and are to hand the cash to new boss Roberto Martinez who will go on a signing blitz of his own. Valencia’s former club Villarreal will, however, take around £3 million from a sell-on clause.

Ferguson has waited for Valencia’s price to be right. He did not want to over-pay for him and the move leaves the United chief with around £85 million for other captures.

United are still on the trail of Spanish strike star David Villa who admitted that he is ‘flattered that four of the world’s top teams are after him’ despite his preference for a move to Real Madrid.

Ferguson hopes to exploit the local antagonism between Valencia and Real that is blocking Villa’s first-choice destination. United will make their bid once the selling price is established.

So it’s officially end now, Cristiano Ronaldo will officially join Real Madrid come 1st July 2009.

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have finalized an agreement for the world record £80m ($131.6m or €93.9m) transfer fee for Cristiano Ronaldo to the Spanish club.

United confirmed earlier this month they had accepted a world-record bid from the Primera Division side.

A statement on Madrid’s website on Friday read: “Real Madrid and Manchester United have signed a final agreement for the transfer of the rights of Cristiano Ronaldo from July 1. The player will be tied to Real Madrid for the next six seasons and will be presented on July 6 at the Santiago Bernabeu.”

The Portugal superstar came close to joining Madrid last summer before Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him to stay at Old Trafford.

But Ramon Calderon, who was president of Madrid at the time, claimed this month a “gentleman’s agreement” existed over the signing before he left the Spanish giants in January.

Nevertheless, Ronaldo becomes the latest signing in Florentino Perez’s Madrid revolution.

Perez, who was responsible for bringing the likes of Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Luis Figo to the Bernabeu in his first stint as president, has already taken Brazil star Kaka from AC Milan and Spain international Raul Albiol from Valencia.

So wish him good luck on his new mission and thanks for all the good years at Manchester United.
