Coach Paulo Bento 38 year-old only took over the team midway through the 2005/2006 season, critics immediately started to bring down the young coach with one of the reason being he never manage a pro club before. The team only notably success in Champions League was beating Inter Milan at home last season. The coach is confident his team will overcome the loss of Ricardo and Nani with his young Lions blood.

AS Roma ended the 2006/2007 Italian Serie-A campaign as runner-up. Rarely playing in the Champions League despite being one of the few top teams in Italy, they only came into the picture last season due to Italian League scandals. United were a match away to another Champions League final, beat AC Milan 3-2 in the first leg at Old Trafford, United lost their solid pair of central defence in Vidic and Ferdinand prior to second leg visit to San Siro, United were tired all round after a fightback victory against Everton which saw United eventually lost out to last season Champions League winner 3-0 in the second leg match.
