Clock was counting down fast the 90th minute, United not convincing through out the game but luck was with our side. Nemanja Vidic rescue Red Devils out of jail with a near-post header from’s Nani corner seven minute from time at Goodison Park to complete a third successive single-goal victories for Premier League champions Manchester United.

This was Nani’s second assist in United single-goal victories, while he also scored himself in the last match against Tottenham at Old Trafford with a thunder strike. This win couple with a draw game for Liverpool and Chelsea was a cause to celebrate, enabling United to close the gap and now sit third in the table below 1st Arsenal and 2nd Liverpool while Chelsea in the fourth place. Both Arsenal and Liverpool played a game fewer than Manchester United making United next encounter with Chelsea is a must win game for Red Devils.

In six outings this season, Manchester United have still to score more than once, even though Sir Alex has added Carlos Tevez, Nani and Anderson to the top flight’s most prolific force last term, and Ferguson is well aware winning by a single is not a cause to be happy with. With all the news about Wayne Rooney making the bench against Everton, Ferguson decided the risk to the fractured foot was too great by rushing Wayne Rooney back, Owen Hargreaves was missing as well.

Indeed, it was a surprise team selection by Ferguson, Patrice Evra lining up the left wing with Carrick playing the holding midfield, Scholes and Giggs take turns to support the lonely Tevez in attack. Both Nani and Saha were on the bench, Ronaldo is kept quiet by Leighton Baines on the flank.

Mikael Silvestre making the left-back slot but did not last a half by bowing out to what would be a serious knee injury. Evra quickly shoved back into the back four thus ending Sir Alex experiment.

David Moyes men were able to restricting the Red Devils to a series of long-range efforts with Carrick among those to try his luck.

Scotland’s hero James McFadden had a shot magnificently saved by Van der Sar before Rio Ferdinand blocked a Victor Anichebe’s follow-up.

Match statistic showed Everton had 9 shots (2 on goal) while United had an amazing 19 shots (8 on goal) but only able to convert 1 goal into the home team’s net. If Manchester United are to continue by winning with single-goal and un-convincingly questions will surface on why Sir Alex did not buy a new striker when Solksjaer announce his retirement from games and why did he let Alan Smith go!!!

Looking forward to a great game with Sporting Lisbon next Wednesday in Champions League group match. Hopefully United can discover their scoring touch starting with Sporting Lisbon.
