Man Utd & Cristiano Ronaldo

By | Jun 24, 2009

Cristiano Ronaldo have chosen to start his new season in La Liga, no doubt about his contributions to Red Devils during the trophies laden season, however, towards the last couple of United’s matches we can clearly see this boy was no longer interested about United’s course, indeed he is more interested about his personal achievement particularly against Man City when he was substituted (to keep him fresh, while he is aiming for golden boot) and Champions League final against FC Barcelona where he wanted to take the show alone with all the long range shooting when there are few chances that he can clearly play the team mates into threatening position.

To speak about how United would be badly miss him is showing little no respect into team play, and premature. One man doesn’t make you win, it’s all down to team work. Manchester United have been suffering from team tactics, where we clearly don’t have plan B when team performance are bad, due to our attacking strategy have been clearly focusing on him, making him as our prime target, our traditional wing play contribution have been low, comparing to pre-Ronaldo era. How many goals does United scored have been a cross-in from the flanks? Our goals-for ratio had also suffered this season, losing out to Liverpool.

Real Madrid offer of £80 million pound is really crazy money – and that is hell lots during, not to mentioned the world are on recession. Manchester United are making roughly about 5 times the money we paid when we signed him from Sporting Lisbon. In today world of soccer, money does rules everything. The world live through the simple term of “buy & sell” to survive, thus, soccer was not exception.

Manchester United FC can’t be categorized as feeder club as some rival fans in others forum have been quick to seized this opportunity to fires at United. To date Man Utd have sold three players to Real Madrid in David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and pending Ronaldo personal term. Beckham and Nistelrooy more or less have had their peak time at United and of course they have served United very well. They were sold because Sir Alex Ferguson can see they are starting to create discomfort within the changing room.

While Ronaldo is still peaking at United, some may argue we should still keep him at Old Trafford for a year or two but Sir Alex does not see there is any reason to hold on to a player that is constantly flirting with the press rumors, and Ronaldo himself had publicly admitted he would like to play for Real Madrid if chances arrive. Ronaldo is not through and through Red Devils so don’t be too sad about his departure.

One thing for sure, David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy leave United with legend status, but not Ronaldo.
